GARDEN GABLES INN GUIDE BOOK
With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to rethink many aspects of our operations at the Inn. One is that we are replacing our previous hard-copy information folder with a web-based Guide Book.
The Guide Book is available by clicking on this sentence, which is a link to the Guide Book. The Guide Book has all the detailed information on our COVID-19 operational policies and other changes in Inn operations.
We are in a transition to using this new resource, and so are also maintaining the information below until we fully transition and adapt to this new method.
Free internet service is available throughout the Inn and grounds. We will do our best to accommodate any business services that you may need during your stay, such as printing, faxes, receipt of mail.
Check-in time is 3PM. Check-out time is 11AM. We will do our best to accommodate a request for early check-in or late check-out, but cannot guarantee this option will be available, especially during the summer season.
Children age 13 and older are welcome.
To help make your stay easy and enjoyable, we provide several complimentary concierge services.
Ticket and Restaurant Reservations - We would be delighted to make suggestions and assist you in booking tickets and restaurant reservations.
Activities and Local Attractions - Our Inn Staff is knowledgeable about things to do here in the Berkshires. Please do not hesitate to ask for ideas. We can also assist you in finding a local store where you can rent or purchase sports or other equipment.
The Inn’s dining room and adjoining wraparound porch provide a tranquil setting for your dining pleasure. From May - August tables on our patio outside the dining room offer an outdoor eating option.
Breakfast – A custom-prepared, full menu breakfast is included in your room rate, and is served each morning from 7:30 through 9:45 (coffee and tea are available earlier at 7:00am). We feature seasonal, local, and organic foods. There are no pre-arranged seating times. Upon arrival in the dining room, our wait staff will take your breakfast order to our chef who will prepare your choice of farm fresh eggs cooked to order, including our Signature Omelet with your choice of inclusions.
Also try our Apple-Strudel French Toast featuring Hilltop Orchards apples; Belgian Waffles; or light, fluffy, pancakes with your choice of seasonal add-ins. You will find a buffet of fresh and dried fruits, granola, organic yogurt, pastries, locally made organic breads, cheeses, sausage, bacon, and more.
Dinner at the Inn - Unfortunately, we have had to restrict our Chef's Table at this time, due to COVID-19 considerations - please contact us to see what may be possible during your visit. We hope to be able to resume offering these special dinners in the near future. We offer our Chef's Table private dining on selected days throughout the year. Custom design a menu with our professionally-trained and experienced chef, for a romantic evening for two in front of the library fireplace. Also a perfect evening for a group of friends staying together at the Inn, or as an Inn guest, invite local friends for a special meal experience that you will long remember. Dinner on the Town - Lenox and the surrounding Berkshire towns offer a multitude of casual and fine dining options. For your convenience we have collected many of the current restaurant menus in a book located in our Guest Pantry. We are happy to assist you with restaurant recommendations and reservations.
Special Diets - Please notify us in advance of any special dietary arrangements for your stay - we will do our best to provide for them.
Room Service - Available in some rooms by special arrangement. Please contact the Innkeeper.
Many rooms have wood-burning fireplaces. We equip these with a duraflame-type fire log (two complimentary logs are included with your stay; additional logs available for purchase), for safety and convenience. Please follow the guidelines for safe and enjoyable use of the fireplace in your room, using only one fire log at a time. Flues have been left open, so no adjustment is required. Do not attempt to move or remove the fire log once it has been lit - fire logs do not require tending and can break apart if moved while burning. Please contact the Inn staff if you have any questions about the use of the fireplace. Housekeeping will clean the fireplace and restock the fire log daily.
Front Desk Staff is available to support your needs 24/7. Please dial 71 on the in-room phone to reach the Innkeeper.
Garden Gables spa robes and other items are also available for purchase by contacting the front desk. Please give us 24-hour advance notice if you would like to order some of our chocolate chip cookies to take with you.
The Berkshire region is brimming with creativity. We support local artists whose work you will see displayed throughout the Inn. Please inquire at the front desk if there is anything you would like to purchase.
Guests sometimes have questions about how to handle gratuities during their stay at the Inn. It is not customary to provide a gratuity at the time of service, with the exception of spa/wellness. Gratuities are not automatically added to your bill, except in the case of Chef's Table dinner and Special Events (which will be indicated at the time of booking). Should you wish to leave a gratuity for staff, we have provided envelopes for your convenience in the guest information folder or you may have it added to your bill. Your recognition of their service during your stay will be much appreciated!
Each room is stocked with a complimentary bottle of still and sparkling water. Downstairs in the Guest Pantry, adjacent to the Dining Room, you can help yourself to complimentary homemade chocolate chip cookies, and fruit and apples in season. Unfortunately we are not able to offer our normal coffee and drink service in the Pantry, due to COVID-19 requirements. Each room has its own Keurig for your convenience, as well as still and sparkling water. Ice is available upon request to the Innkeeper.
Due to COVID-19 requirements, we are not able to offer normal refresh service during your stay. Please let our Innkeepers know of any requirement you have for additional linens, towels, bath products and fire logs (one is complimentary for each night of your stay, additional are available for a small fee) and we will bring these items to your room. If you do require assistance with something in your room, we will work with you to safely address your needs.
Free, wireless Internet access is available throughout the Inn and grounds. We do not guarantee the bandwidth necessary for video streaming applications.
Each guest room offers these amenities for use during your stay: Air conditioning, Private bath, Anichini® spa robes (available on request), L'Occitane skin and hair care products, Hair dryers, LED TVs with free cable, CD/DVD players. Private telephones with voice messaging system, iPod® Clock/Radio/Alarm. The Inn maintains a selection of current and classic DVDs and board games for guest use. Irons and ironing boards are available in your room. We have a supply of basic toiletries you may have forgotten - please request with the Innkeeper. The Inn receives several shared guest copies of The New York Times, The Boston Globe and/or The Wall St. Journal daily. These are available each morning in the Dining Room. If you wish to purchase your own personal copy, please contact the front desk and we will be happy to obtain if for you.
Should we find one of your belongings, we will do our best to notify you and make arrangements to ship the item to you. However, we cannot be responsible for misplaced guest belongings.
During the peak summer season weekends, and for selected holidays, there is a 2-night minimum stay requirement. These requirements are noted on our website, or will be indicated by our staff when you make your reservation by phone.
One parking space is provided for each guest room. Please let us know if you require more than one parking space at the time of reservation or arrival so we can assist you in making other arrangements.
We regret that we are not able to accommodate pets with the exception of service dogs.
Room to room calls: Add 10 to the room number you are calling (i.e. dial 14 for Room #4; dial 22 for Room #12). For Calls outside the Inn: Dial 9 + phone number. For the Front desk: Dial 71.
Local phone calls (not requiring “1”) are free of charge. Please be advised that we do not have access to discounted long distance rates in the guest rooms and the charge is approximately $.75 per minute. We recommend that you use a long distance calling card with an 800# or cell phone to avoid extra charges being added to your bill. International calls cannot be made from the guest room phones.
Some rooms are equipped with refrigerators. Most of our rooms can accommodate a small refrigerator, which we will be happy to place in your room. Please inquire at the time of reservation about a refrigerator, should you need one.
The Inn maintains a 10pm–8am quiet time policy designed to ensure a restful environment for you and your fellow guests. Please contact the Innkeeper if you need assistance.
We have provided separate containers in each room to collect recyclables; including glass, paper, and plastic. There are also recycling baskets available in our Dining Room and Guest Pantry for guest use. If you have any questions about whether an item is recyclable please ask at the front desk.
Garden Gables Inn rooms are prepared to be in proper repair, fully cleaned and full working order when you arrive. You will be escorted to your room upon arrival, and the Innkeeper will review the room with you. If you notice any issues with the condition of your room, please notify the Innkeeper. Guests will be charged for any damages caused to your room as a result of negligence or failure to follow standard Inn policies. Charges will be based on cost of repair, labor, and duration room is unavailable to other guests. Room damages include unremovable staining of towels, bedding, and other furnishings, breakage or tearing of furniture and fabrics, damage to walls, floors and other surfaces. We do understand that accidents can happen, and will consider these factors if you notify us prior to departure of any such issues that have occurred during your stay, so that we may understand the circumstances. Based on the information you provide, and the condition of the room, we will assess the cost of the damages and charge these to your credit card.
The Inn is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we request that guests honor this policy for the comfort of all. A minimum $500 cleaning charge will be applied to your bill if smoking should occur in any room.
The Inn is available to host special events from time-to-time, from November - mid-lune. We do not host special events during the summer and autumn busy seasons. We would be pleased to consult with you about scheduling a special event at the Inn.
Cool - The thermostat controls for the air conditioning vary in each room. Because it is an older structure, air conditioning in the Main House rooms is not available until the main system is turned on during the Spring and Fall shoulder seasons, and is not available in the Winter months. If it is not clear how to control the temperature in your room, please contact the front desk for assistance. Fans are available from the Innkeeper, should you need one at anytime.
Heat - Rooms in the Main House are heated using cast-iron (old fashioned) radiators and baseboard units. Radiators can be turned on and off only. Baseboard units can be adjusted to control the temperature using the in-room thermostat. Please do not adjust the white square thermostat to control the heat; this is for the air conditioning only, and will be marked as such. If you need additional heat, portable heaters are available from the Innkeeper. Our Orchard Cottage rooms (#16, 17, 18, 19) use the same controls for air conditioning and heat. Eladesor Cottage rooms feature LG Art Cool Air Conditioning units and baseboard heat. Please use the corresponding remote to adjust A/C and the baseboard thermostat to adjust heat. If it is not clear how to adjust the heat in your room, please contact the Innkeeper for assistance.
Each room is equipped with a clock-radio which can provide an alarm for you. If you need assistance to set the alarm, please contact the Innkeeper.
